We replaced more holding tanks last year than we would have liked to. It’s a costly and messy repair. We want to help you learn more about your RV so that you can try to avoid it: Excel uses 2 piece holding tanks that are parallel to the RV under the basement. Excel made a frame from 2X2s, angle iron, and a cross member for the wider lip of the holding tank to rest upon. Most of your tanks are hanging down suspended from the frame. When the weight of the waste accumulates in the body of the tank, it applies an extraordinary amount of pressure to the seam where the tank and the lip meet. A majority of the tanks that fail will have stress cracks along the weakest point in the seam along that lip. I am sorry that things keep changing, but this time it is for the good. We have worked out a schedule that you will find below which allows us to have a more “robust” fall rally. Please plan to bring a white elephant item for a silent auction, as we did in the Spring of this year at Elephant Butte. This item should have a nominal value of $10 and all proceeds will go to the Club. (Yes, Ralph Chowning, you can bring back some of the items you “purchased” at the Spring rally.)

Halloween is one of our favorite times of the year here at RV Sales because we get to do our annual Trick-or-Treat Trailer-to-Trailer! This year will be our 22nd year of handing out candy to local kiddos and collecting donations for the Bethel Community Storehouse, and we’re excited. 🙂
The trick-or-treat will be held at RV Sales on Halloween, October 31, 2015 from 5:30-7:30pm. Admission is one canned good or one dollar, all of which will be donated to the Bethel Community Storehouse.
Last year, we collected over 800 pounds of food and well over $1,000 in donations for the Bethel Community Storehouse Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program. Bennett’s Amusements donated their Haunted House as a fundraiser for the Moriarty Rotary Club, and last year they raised over three hundred dollars for scholarships. More than 1,600 people attended last year.

We usually look forward to writing you Christmas letters with news from Excel, RV Sales, and our families. Unfortunately, today we are writing you with far sadder news. Bryan Tillet informed us yesterday afternoon that Peterson Industries is closing immediately. We were heartbroken and surprised to learn of this news because we have had a strong partnership with the Excel family since 1993. We all knew that the recession in 2008-09 was hard on RV Manufacturers, and we were thrilled when Peterson Industries was able to streamline expenses and weather the storm. Unfortunately, they got so far behind that it became impossible to dig back out. We hope that you will share a few positive thoughts or prayers for the employees who have kept Excel at the top of the charts since 1966.
