Latest Industry News

Excel has been known as one of the best RVs in the industry for more than half a century. Their innovative design and custom rigs for full-timers has created a loyal following. Unfortunately, when Peterson Industries closed unexpectedly in March of 2015 Excel owners discovered that they were owners of what is now called an “Orphan RV “. An RV is referred to as an “orphan” if the company that manufactured it is no longer in business. Two years later, many Excel owners are curious how that effects their resale value.
As Excel’s #1 dealer for Peterson Industries, we likely have the largest stock of used Excels on the market today; Here is what we know.
When Excel closed, NADA book values dropped immediately, which hurt all of us. We had eight new Excels and twenty used Excels on the lot when Peterson closed. We feel your pain but on an even larger [...]

It’s almost that time again, when RV Sales dresses up about 40 trailers to provide a safe place for our community kids to trick or treat. Not just that, but we ask our community to bring in 1 canned food or non-perishable food item for admission and everything goes to our local food pantry. We have received many donations towards this event but we’re not quite to our goal yet. Every year we bring pallets of food and cash donations to Bethel just in time for the Holiday need. This time of year is critical to some our local families and here at RV Sales, we take that seriously.

So, whether You’d like to sponsor a whole trailer, donate $5.00, 5 lbs of candy or a smiling face to hand it all out on Halloween night, we NEED you! Call us today to find out about sponsoring a trailer and do your part in [...]

Join us May 13 and 14, 2016 for our Open House! We will be having a ton of fun, as we are also doing the ribbon cutting to celebrate BOTH our third generation of business ownership and our new RV lines, Arctic Fox and IGo! Come join us for free seminars, free food, and a great time. Representatives from Arctic Fox and IGo will be on hand to chat with you about their RVs. While you’re here, take a peek at our NEW Arctic Foxes and IGos in our inventory…or even better, come in and see them yourself before the crowds arrive!

Do you have stinky water lines? Here is how to clean them: Mix 1 cup vinegar with 1/2 cup bleach. Pour the mixture into your fresh water tank and fill the tank with water. Open your sink faucet, including the hot water, and run it until you smell bleach. Close your faucets and let it sit for one hour, then drain, refill with clean water, and run faucets again until the water system is rinsed out. If necessary, you can repeat the procedure with other faucets, including your shower and bathroom sink. Just make sure to flush your plumbing system after running bleach through it!

Hello Excel Club of New Mexico Members!

The 2016 Spring Rally is coming up! It will be April 22-24, 2016 at the Elephant Butte Lake RV Resort. Call 575-744-5996 to make your reservations. The resort address is 402 Highway 195, Elephant Butte, NM 87935. The resort has a new policy regarding reservations: When you call to reserve your space, they are charging the entire length of your stay instead of just the first night.

Tommy Cabe, your club president, will send out the schedule for the rally in early March–so keep your eyes on your email and the RV Sales website for updates! We will definitely be playing Pickleball, and the meal on Saturday night will be in small self-organized groups rather than a catered meal or a large group. More details will be forthcoming in the schedule!

We will see you all there!

Check it out! RV Business named the EverGreen IGo one of its Top RV Debuts for 2016! We think it’s a fantastic travel trailer, and we are glad others in the industry think so too! We have six new IGos on the lot, all with different floor plans, so come see what all the buzz is about. You can also take a look at ours at rvsalesnm.com, and see all the available floorplans, options, and specifications for the IGo, IGo Cloud, and IGo Pro at http://www.goevergreenrv.com/page/75/Travel-Trailers.

(“RV Business” magazine, vol. 67 no. 1, January/February 2016: pg. 55)

We replaced more holding tanks last year than we would have liked to.  It’s a costly and messy repair. We want to help you learn more about your RV so that you can try to avoid it: Excel uses 2 piece holding tanks that are parallel to the RV under the basement. Excel made a frame from 2X2s, angle iron, and a cross member for the wider lip of the holding tank to rest upon. Most of your tanks are hanging down suspended from the frame.  When the weight of the waste accumulates in the body of the tank, it applies an extraordinary amount of pressure to the seam where the tank and the lip meet.   A majority of the tanks that fail will have stress cracks along the weakest point in the seam along that lip. To avoid splitting your tank, haul with a minimal amount of fluid/ weight whenever possible. If your tank [...]
